Four unique programmes at KU Leuven

Master of European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives

In our interdisciplinary one-year 'Master of European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives' (MAES) you will analyse Europe as a region of historical, political and societal diversities, intense interactions across national boundaries, and complex exchanges with the outside world. Together with students from all over the world and from various disciplinary backgrounds, you can choose between twelve specialised modules, including ‘European External Relations’, ‘Globalising Europe’, ‘Europe and its Eastern Neighbourhoods’, ‘Europe and its Southern Neighbourhoods’, ‘Europe and Asia’ and ‘European History, Integration and Political Order’.

Master of European Policies and Public Administration

The Master of Advanced Studies in European Policies and Public Administration (MEPP) is a one-year programme that empowers you to gain critical insight into today’s key issues in European public administration, public policy and public management. The programme is designed to provide you with rigorous analytical skills and prepares you for careers in governments, international bodies and research, all around the world. This programme combines academic excellence in the comparative study of public sector structures, policy-making and administration within Europe, with a concern for the challenges professionals face at the sub-state, state and European levels. During the second semester students can study at another European university within the framework of the EMPA Network.

The Master of Science in International Politics (MIP) is a one-year Master's programme that provides you with the necessary theoretical and methodological skills to study international politics and governance in a globalising world. You will learn to anticipate on and find solutions for complex global challenges in diplomacy, development cooperation, peace processes and conflict management, environmental politics, international development and political economy. Moreover, you will study regional political developments in Europe, North America, China, Russia, Eurasia and the Middle East.
