European Court of Auditors

The ECA carries out the audit of EU finances. Through its audits the ECA assesses whether the collection and spending of EU funds have been properly recorded and disclosed, legally and regularly executed, and managed so as to ensure economy, efficiency and effectiveness. The ECA often produces critical reports and opinions, such as one on the EEAS of June 2014.

European Defence Agency

Created by a Council Joint action, the tasks of the EDA include developing defence capabilities, promoting defence research and technology (R&T), promoting armaments co-operation and creating a competitive European defence equipment market. Based in Brussels.

European Environment Agency

The European Environment Agency (EEA) publishes reports, indicators, live maps, graphs and data on a wide range of environmental topics. 

European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training

European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) is an agency of the European Union dedicated to develop, implement and coordinate training for law enforcement officials.

European Union Institute for Security Studies

The European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) was founded in 2002 following a Joint Action by the Council. It operates under the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) but as an intellectually and operationally autonomous agency. The EUISS is based in Paris, with an antenna office in Brussels, and aims to provide analyses and fora for discussion that can be of use and relevance to the formulation of EU policy.

EU Agency for Fundamental Rights

The task of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is monitor and analyse data in order to help ensure that the fundamental rights of people living in the EU are protected.

EU Satellite Centre

The mission of the European Union Satellite Centre (EUSC) is to support the decision-making of the European Union by providing analysis of satellite imagery and collateral data.

European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) devises and executes the European space programme. Several EU member States are members of the ESA, as well as some non-EU States. The Headquarters are in Paris.

Europol is the European Union’s law enforcement agency and assists Member States in their fight against serious international crime and terrorism.

Eurojust is the agency of the European Union dealing with judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
